Dia de Muertos – the Day of the Dead with Kathleen Snyder Part 1

La Catrina, the Skinny Lady, Death. She and other elements of Mexico’s Day of the Dead are celebrated on All Saints Day and All Souls Day. Along with the art of Jose Guadalupe Posada, the calaveras candy skulls, and poems to the dead, life is celebrated at this time of year in Mexico. Pre-Hispanic Aztec, Roman Catholic, and Spanish cultures come together for this ritual time of celebration. Kathleen Snyder (don’t let her anglo name confuse you) is Mexican, and gives a lecture about Dia de los Muertos. What are it’s origins? What are some of the customs?
